Women who don't want to get "MUSCULAR"

It was my friend’s birthday today. A few of my friends that I hadn't seen in a while brought up my blog posts and they ended up asking me for advice. We ended up talking bout it for a few minutes.  Two completely different women with different goals. The two of them had one thing in common “They were afraid they would get too muscular.” I have been working at a gym for nearly two years now and this is a very common felling amongst women who want to exercise. Listen carefully ladies, “IT WILL NOT HAPPEN,” "You couldn't get muscular even if you tried really hard. You will have to be at the gym for long hours, eat like a champion, and do crazy weights….. and inject STEREOIDS!!! It just will not happen. It just WON’T. Women have less testosterone than men. Testosterone is a male sex hormone that plays a key role in increasing muscle mass, strength, bone strength, repairing and so on. Basically when you work out you are tearing your muscles apart and than your testosterone helps with the recovery and the muscle growth. Women have 10-30 times less testosterone than men, so it will be nearly 10-30 times harder to build muscle like men naturally.

Naturally women have higher body fat % than men. Most women would like the “Hourglass” shape. Well how do you get that? Well… you need to lose weight (depends on your weight) and get toned and firm, and build muscle. The muscles that you will be building will be lean muscle. To achieve any of these successfully you need to do weights. Most people however when they are trying to lose weight do a lot of cardio. Some only do cardio. After a couple of months they give up because they don’t see any results. Doing cardio is good, but too much of it is not recomanded either. You will eventually begin to burn your muscles.
In order to get the “Hourglass” body type, lose weight in your stomach, lose weight in general, and to get into that healthy lifestyle you need a balanced workout routine. You need your flexibility, your muscle mass, your bone density, and your cardio. It is a combination of all these together that will give you those curves. (Keep in mind 70% is your diet. I will explain that soon)

For every pound of muscle that you add, you w ill be burning 50-100 calories extra day. For every pound of fat that you need to lose you will need to burn about 3500 calories. You will lose the weight twice as fast once you do weights, than you would if you do cardio only. As well as when you get your body under this foundation you will maintain it for way longer even if you were to stop. (Of coarse we will avoid that happening). You need to understand that this is a long time investment.

With all the pressure that we have in today’s society is no ones fault really. We should be taught this at a young age. You can talk to any trainer, fitness advisers. You can even talk to those supper models, with the sexiest beach bodies ever, and they will all tell you the same thing “Do weights. You will not get muscular like those women on TV, unless you want to do steroids.”
